CONFERENCE: Navigating fractures: the role of place and resistance in shifting migration regimes

Queen Mary’s interdisciplinary Centre for the Study of Migration and the (B)Orders Centre for the Study of Borders, Migration and Displacement are jointly hosting the conference on Navigating fractures: the role of place and resistance in shifting migration regimes  at Queen Mary University of London. The conference brings together scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to critically examine how migration and bordering shape contemporary social and political life. It invites participants to interrogate dominant migration regimes, challenge exclusionary narratives, and reflect on the spatial, legal, and affective dimensions of borders. The call for contributions is open until  January 12, 2026.

CONFERENCE: Association for Borderlands Studies Annual Conference 2026

March 25 – March 28, 2026

The Association for Borderlands Studies is inviting submissions for its Annual Conference to be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The conference brings together border scholars from diverse disciplines to examine borders as complex sites of political, cultural, and social transformation. The ABS Annual Conference offers excellent opportunities for networking, presenting research, and engaging in interdisciplinary discussions on critical border studies methodologies and theories. It is valuable for researchers interested in trans-regional comparative approaches to border research. The last date to submit a proposal is January 16, 2026.

CONFERENCE: Negotiating Asian Borders: Actors, Displacements, Multiplicities, Sovereignties

The 8th Conference of the Asian Borderlands Research Network, Negotiating Asian Borders: Actors, Displacements, Multiplicities, Sovereignties, will take place at National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan, from 13 to 15 January 2026. The submission deadline for proposals is 20 May 2025.
