Estonia seeks Russian agreement on border water navigation buoys. Talks will occur between their border representatives without specifying date and location. Buoys are usually placed in early May to mark shipping lanes. Last year, Russia removed half of Narva River buoys, claiming they were in their waters. Estonia disagrees, demanding their return. Estonia’s Foreign Ministry sent a diplomatic note to Russia for a constructive solution. Eerik Purgel, Border Guard Bureau’s East Prefecture’s head, says communication is at the border representatives’ level. Agreement on buoy placement is priority. Estonia insists buoys belong in the fairway’s center. The meeting will reveal Russian arguments. If no agreement, buoy placement will be decided.
