At the Estonian-Russian border crossing points of Narva, Luhamaa and Koidula, new traffic barriers will be installed to strengthen the existing infrastructure. The existing Narva crossing was built a decade ago due to rising tensions with Russia and migration issues, but it failed to prevent incidents such as a drive-through breach. Head of the Narva border crossing point Marek Liiva said that new barriers will prevent unauthorised crossings and enhance security against potential hybrid attacks. The Police and Border Guard Board (PPA) expects that the reinforcement of the crossing points in Narva, Luhamaa and Koidula will cost €2.2 million.
