The Border Lab Summer School 2025 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, is one step closer to becoming a reality! After receiving an extraordinary 600+ applications from across the globe, we’ve selected a small, exceptional group of participants to join us from 2–6 June 2025.
This highly anticipated program will bring together early career researchers, PhD candidates, and scholars from diverse disciplines, creating a vibrant community to explore and challenge the concept of borders. With an intimate format designed for meaningful collaboration, the Summer School promises lectures, field trips, and workshops led by esteemed scholars like Shairbek Dzhuraev, Willem van Schendel, Madeleine Reeves, Nick Megoran, and Asel Murzakulova.
To everyone who applied: thank you for sharing your passion for border studies with us! While only a select few could be chosen, we are deeply inspired by the enthusiasm and dedication of all who reached out. For those not selected, we encourage you to stay connected, this is just the beginning of what the Eur-Asian Border Lab has in store.
To the selected participants: get ready for a transformative experience. Bishkek awaits, and we can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together.
