
Jussi P. Laine, a member of the Eur-Asian Border Lab, has been appointed Section Editor for Borders: Theory and Practice as part of the innovative Oxford Intersections initiative by Oxford University Press. Working alongside James W. Scott, Jussi will curate interdisciplinary research exploring the complex and dynamic nature of borders in today’s world.
Oxford Intersections, launching this year, is an ambitious academic publishing platform that tackles pressing global challenges through a multidisciplinary lens. The Borders section will focus on the ways borders influence and are influenced by political, social, and cultural systems, transcending their physical manifestations. With this new role, Dr. Laine will play a pivotal part in shaping discussions and advancing research on border studies, bringing fresh perspectives to one of the most critical topics of our time.
This appointment highlights the leadership and expertise within the Eur-Asian Border Lab and reinforces the Lab’s commitment to fostering impactful scholarship on borders and bordering practices.
