Eda Kirişçioğlu Taşan

Eda Kiriscioglu works on migration aspirations and decision-making in the context of undocumented migration. Her research explores the relationship between risk perceptions and migrants’ aspirations to stay, move, or return.

By providing evidence from the migration journeys of Syrian and Afghan refugees living in Turkey, the research shows why risk perceptions provide a better analytical lens to understand aspirations to move and stay. Furthermore, based on a mixed methods approach, the research aims to understand whether migrants shape their aspirations based on structural factors such as border closures or individual factors such as risk perceptions.
