Hasan H. Karrar

Hasan H. Karrar is an associate professor at the Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan. He has specialization on China, Central Asia, and the Karakoram high mountain region of northern Pakistan. He has published widely on contemporary transnational connections and entanglements in Asian borderlands that variously appear as independent mobilities and bazaar trade; memory and affect; multilateral initiatives and bilateral development cooperation.

More broadly Karrar is interested in how Chinese economic and strategic power is deployed and represented in countries of the Global South, as well as how China responds to and is contoured by ground realities in countries where it is pursuing partnership. He has had visiting affiliations with institutions in Canada and China and serves on editorial and scholarly advisory boards.
