Mohan Sharma and Uttam Lal has published this research article in the Journal of ‘Contemporary South Asia’. Presenting a participatory fieldwork in the Idu-Mishmi Indigenous landscape in Arunachal Pradesh, India, to explore how biogeopolitics has continued transforming the India-China borderscape.
This paper presents the spatial biography of Idu-Mishmi, examining their relationship with nonhumans, traditional space relations with their neighbours, and the ways colonial and post-colonial interventions have reshaped the borderscape. Through a case study, the authors illustrate how nation-states political boundary, protected area boundary and infrastructures and geopolitical forces act as agencies in the production of a borderscape.
