Iverson Ng, an Early Career Researcher at the Eur-Asian Border Lab and Junior Research Fellow at Tallinn University delivered a presentation titled “PRC’s Influence in the Selected British Overseas Territories (BOTs)” at the China In The World (CITW) Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. Using Hong Kong’s offshore jurisdiction as a reference point, Iverson explored how the People’s Republic of China (PRC) exerts influence in these territories, shedding light on the geopolitical, economic, and social dynamics at play.
Organised by Doublethink Lab, CITW is a global platform that connects researchers, civil society members, and experts to discuss China’s expanding influence worldwide. This year’s hybrid summit brought together nearly 120 participants from diverse regions to engage in discussions on topics such as digital surveillance, geopolitics, and PRC initiatives in the Global South.
